The northwest of the bay is located in the border that takes its name, and that shares with one of the more important harbor complexes of the Caribbean, and most important of our extensive South coast. It gives breath to one of the most modern and prosperous provinces of the nation, with a promissory future thanks to his impressive industrial park, to its natural excellence and the development of his productive forces.

The Gallic influence in Cienfuegos is prominent, deciding its architectonic development and agricultural in the first years, which is reflected in the construction, in its Urban Historical Center, of an Arc of Triumph, to try to equal itself with Paris. All it allows him to incursionar in the tourist industry with a peculiar product, whose enchantments do not defraud to those who do more than a brief pause to know it in the passage from or towards the colonial villa Trinidad.

Rich in palaces (White, Ferrer, Goitizolo...), parks (Jose Martí, Villuendas, Pantheon of Gil...), theaters and churches (Cathedral...), and with their Stroll of the Prado, which extends until the sea, show the world the enchantments of the theater Tomás Terry, reflected faithful of the time of gold of Cienfuegos; or the Valley Palace, exponent of the prevaleciente architectonic eclecticism in the city, where they harmonize the styles to mudéjar and bizantino with the veneciano, gothic and the baroque one.

In the bay, the strength of Our Lady of the Angels of Jagua, concluded in 1745, is an explaining solid of the military architecture of century XVIII in Cuba. When being based it was the only construction of his type whereupon it counted the center of the Island to watch the Caribbean Sea of the attacks of privateers and pirates.

Also, the Botanical Garden (the dean of this type of facilities in Cuba) complements the supply of Cienfuegos, with its 97 hectares of extension - seven of them of natural forest reserved -, who contain to more than two thousand species of plants, that represent 670 sorts and 125 families.

The cultural surroundings of the province complete with the Cemetery of Queen (only of its type in the Island) and necrópolis Tomás Acea (only type garden in the Greater one of the Antilles), both declared national monuments. First of them it was constructed in 1830 and it constitutes a true museum of funeral art; it shows the system of interments by vertical niches prevaleciente at the Spanish colonial time.

Cienfuegos also has the beach of Farm calm Moon, owner of fine sands and waters, with a coastal platform particularly rough and populated by a numerous submarine life. The marine bottoms invite to the diving, with formation coralline of loss and average depth in the Cove of Barriers and the Playitas, whereas to an advance towards the bottom an accompanied steep sponge relief stands out abundant, gorgonias and chorales.
