Province located to the South of the central region of Cuba. It has an area of 4 176.7 km2 and one considered population of 384 362 inhabitants (1996). It occupies the tenth third place in the country by his extension and fourteenth by his population. In this region the plains of Cienfuegos and Manacas in the Western and Central zone predominate, respectively, towards the East the heights of Santa Clara and the mountains of Guamuhaya, where is the culminating height of the Central region and the province, the San Juan tip (1140 meters). There is also the cave of Martín Hell with a estalagmita of 50 meters of height and 30 meters of diameter. Its hydrography is represented by the rivers Damují, Caunao, Arimao, Salado and San Juan among others. Of great importance they are the mining-medicinal and thermal waters of Blind person Montero. The bay of Cienfuegos stands out by its depth, of narrow channel and ample interior. The cascades of the water jump of the Niche, in the mountainous bulk Mountain range of Trinidad, are on the other hand an ideal site for the lovers from the nature tourism and adventures, like the zone of Guajimico.
