City of RemediosThe City of San Juan of the Remedies, or Remedies as all we called to him, was the head of I finish municipal, judicial party and fiscal zone by its name, in the province of the Villas, Cuba. The genesis of their foundation and unfolding is as it follows: In 1512, soon after taking possession from the island of Cuba the Advanced Diego de Velazquez, his companions Panfilo de Narvaez and the Father of the Houses left exploration, verifying it of Tesico in 1513, in whose cercanias existia a town of Indians called Old Town. By the end of year 1515 the first houses, pertaining to the Basque horseman Porcallo de Figueroa settled down, who at the same time contribuia to the foundation and promotion of Trinidad, Sancti Spiritus and Principe Port, today Camaguey. In 1545 the town appeared already with city council, but under the feudo of that horseman. |
